We joined Japanese Paper
Making Event hosted by Setagaya Citizens Society for Overseas Study.
Around 30 participants were good mix of people from everywhere like Qatar, Sweden, Cote d’lvoire, England, Vietnam, Japan…. We were impressed that as many as 10 personnel were
volunteering to make this event go smoothly. Under their instruction, we made postcards,
lamp shade, and Japanese traditional decorations for New Year, which are all
made of Japanese “washi” paper! Getting
to know new people from all over the world while learning how to make washi was
the greatest part of this event. We realized that besides discussion sessions we are
holding every week, this kind of hands-on activity also makes the world even
more borderless! (posted by Akie Ueda)
