Five Senses Workshop ~ Let’s listen deeply to our five
senses ~
On January 29th, 9 members including 5 new members experienced a Five Senses Workshop at Allincco
Office in Shibuya. Our instructor Mr. Kouichiro Aono is an acupuncturist who is
the regular member of our community ICT, and he explained all exercises/games
with simple examples.
First, we tried the “two-point discrimination” test
to find out how sensitive we are. The test let you discover which parts of your
skin have many pressure sensors, so one member pressed two sharp points onto the
other’s skin and asking him whether he can feel one or two pressure points. We
learned that fingers were the most sensitive part of our body, surprisingly forearm
was in less sensitive area.
In the exercise of moving around the room with wearing
eye mask, making pairs, one leaded the partner to the destination with just his
sound. The things we had fun was that movements, speed and motion of our
walking were all different. Some members totally believed their partners so
they got there smoothly with high-speed walking, but others (the majority)
walked more slowly because they came up some fears from dark.
We also enjoyed honey tasting and salt tasting with
using eye mask, and guessed what kinds of honey we had after remembering all tastes.
Most of us paid attention carefully their textures, smells, touches and sounds (salt),
but we couldn’t get the correct answer. The hardest game was that to
distinguish the color of origami (papers) just touching without sight, nobody had
a special talent like Helen Keller even though how many times we tested.
After all works, we sharpened our senses and got
some new abilities which we don’t care in our daily life. Many
thanks to you our instructor, Mr. Aono, for preparing everything and well-arranging
today’s workshop to experience a special opportunity for all members! (posted by Tsubasa kato) |
