Gathering Report 1: June 15th, 2013

Six of us including two new members got together at Unity567 in Roppongi.

English Gatherings on weekend have just started from June! Starting with self introduction in a homelike atmosphere, we spoke on a discussion topic “What is your obsession?” for 5-10 minutes.

First of all, an addiction is spending too much time on something (you like). Smartphone addiction is a real issue in modern society. Without smartphone, do you feel unnatural? According to a “Tech Report”, which was a short video we watched, the average smartphone users checked their phones at least 30 times a day.

Some of our members also checked their mail, Facebook and Twitter right before go to bed or after wake up. But they know that it’s not good behavior at all. Deep down, they want to release themselves from their phones.

Moved on the second part, we talked about the “Crazy Obsessions”, which were hard to understand, after watched a few videos. For example, a woman who is obsessed with rats, a guy addicted to being a mermaid and a woman obsessed with eating face mask. They may have problems even they don’t know.

Why do people get addicted? Everyone has just started to love something you “like”. But once you get addicted to it, you need it more and more. Further, you are not satisfied unless you are doing. It can be an addiction!
