Thank you so much to all participants who joined "What's ‘in’ in Japan 03" last night! Great and fun discussion for 1.5 hours! We found out the reasons "why Japanese people prefer to carry/use cash" from cultural side "Goshuigi" (ご祝儀), "Otoshidama" (お年玉) and "Cash payment on pay day" (給料現金手渡し), and also talked about Japanese unique custom such as "Warikan" (ワリカン) , "Hesokuri" (へそくり) looking back Edo era to find the root of cash basis.

Kristen (USA) and Jessica (Jamaica) feel uncomfortable to carry cash but they got something new for Japanese culture keeping harmonious relationships through cash (縁 and 円).

Look forward to seeing you all next month. A big thank-you to everyone!!
